We know that emergencies can occur at any time, and sometimes you may not be able to make it to the dentist in a timely manner. Below are some things you can do before heading to the dentist’s office for emergency dental care.

Toothache or Object Caught Between Teeth

Thoroughly clean the area around the sore tooth and rinse your mouth with warm salt water. If there is something lodged in-between your teeth, use dental floss to try and remove it. Avoid placing aspirin on the tooth or gums. Apply a cold compress if swelling persists, and take Tylenol (acetaminophen). If the ache persists, contact us to make an appointment as soon as possible. Request Appointment

Knocked Out Permanent Tooth

If you are able to find your missing tooth, rinse it thoroughly. DO NOT use anything other than warm water to rinse. Make sure to handle the tooth by the crown and not the root. If you are able to reinsert the tooth, keep it in place by biting down on a clean cloth or gauze after you have placed it back into its original socket. If you are not able to reinsert the tooth, place the tooth in a cup containing milk or water, and go to the dentist immediately. When saving a tooth, time is of the essence!
