  • Today was my first appointment at Odyssey. I had some standard "first visit" type of questions and an exam images and pictures taken. The hygienist Sam was punctual professional and thorough. The dentist that did my check up is who I would humbly estimate to be the best young dentist in the city Dr. Katie. I would recommend Odyssey to anyone looking for a new dentist... I won't say I look forward to going (back) to the dentist because who does? The biggest compliment I can give is I won't absolutely dread it :D... but in all seriousness punctual professional and a stress free visit I will continue to call Dr. Katie my dentist.

  • Dr.David is magician.. Had filling appointment and he made sure for making me fully comfortable. He did his work so nicely n as fast as he could so tht I don't feel uncomfortable for opening my mouth for long time. He is really a best dentist. Highly recommend him to all. Thank you Dr. David for all things. Today my son had a regular chkup and he was so afraid of going to dentist bt Dr. David n his team did a grt job of making my son so comfortable. While leaving the clinic my son was like it was not tht scary wht I thought of and Dr David was so good n Amazing.. Thanks once again Dr David for taking care of it.

  • Always wonderful . I am not a fan of the dentist but I definitely look forward to my visits here . I generally see hygienist Joan and Dr Jerry . They are both absolutely amazing thank you so much for your wonderful care ❤️ I miss them both and I really struggle myself with change . I did not have a good experience at the dentist as a child so I have struggled as an adult . My teeth are very sensitive and I have a smaller mouth . I just want to thank you to all the staff for being so kind and patient. It really does mean a lot and why I will continue to make the 40 min drive into the city .

  • I think we can all agree that almost nobody likes going to the dentist but that being said there are dentists who make the experience horrible and there are dentists who make it as enjoyable as possible Odyssey is definitely the latter. The staff is nice friendly and well trained the rooms and equipment is clean and everybody tries to make you comfortable. You'll get feedback to work with and there's no shaming if something isn't perfect. I can highly recommend Odyssey and will continue going there (been there almost two years) for all my dental needs.

  • First visit at Odyssey and I had Heidi and Dr. David. Heidi was amazing. Very patient took her time explaining everything she was doing to make me feel at ease. I had a bit of a complication not from something they did wrong but Heidi even called the next day to make sure things were better. Dr. David was friendly and very welcoming. I am so glad I finally found a dentist that I feel truly care about their patients. Highly recommend!

  • I required a temporary fill after a fall. It happened close to Christmas and the office was booked solid. They still made time to bring me in and get the temp filling done. I saw Dr. Cook and she was amazing and patient. I went in for my first cleaning in over four years Samantha was pleasant and fun. I felt at ease which is rare. I’ve had some really bad experiences in the past with dentist offices. HIGHLY recommned

  • I’ve been a patient at Odessey Dental Care for over 8 years now and I couldn’t be happier. All the dentists are fantastic! They explain procedures completely and Lorraine my hygienist is always very gentle and thorough. The office is modern and convenient and the staff are all friendly. I trust their expertise explicitly. Overall I highly recommend Odessey Dental Care for top-notch dental care!

  • My tooth broke apart and had sharp jagged edges that were irritating my tongue. I called Odyssey and they got me in right away. Smoothed out all the sharp edges filled it in and fixed me up in a half hour. Gave me option on what I could do to permanently fix but for now I'm out of pain and can chew properly. I am soo grateful to them!

  • Yesterday evening I chipped a molar so I called Odyssey this morning got an appointment at 11:40 and was done having the tooth filled by Noon including X rays. All the staff there are friendly and efficient and because it's a large practice group they can help you quickly with emergency dental work. Always please with their care.

  • Dr. Jerry Baluta, Dentist in Odyssey Dental Care - Portrait Photo

    Dr Jerry Baluta

    General Dentist

    Dr. Baluta will build a treatment plan for you that will meet your oral health needs whether they be simple or complicated restorative plans, braces, Invisalign® or anything in between.

    He is a Member of the Canadian Dental Association, Manitoba Dental Association, Academy of General Dentistry, and the International Association of Orthodontics.

    When not taking care of his patients, Dr. Baluta is a Clinical Instructor at U of M College of Dentistry for the last 10 years, a Chair of the Communications Committee at the Manitoba Dental Association (MDA) and he is also a member of the board at the Ukrainian Cultural and Education Centre.

    He was honoured to be the Recipient of the President’s Award of Merit from the MDA in 2017 for his long-term volunteer work and chairmanship of the Open Wide program at the MDA.

    Dr. Baluta is married to his wife Olga and has 5 grown children all pursuing their individual passions. When Jerry has time to get out and enjoy the outdoors, he is an avid cyclist and golfer.

    Dr. David Dacombe graduated with a Doctor of Dental Medicine from the University of Manitoba in 2015 with Dean’s Honours. Dr. Dacombe is passionate about all aspects of dentistry, especially enjoying implant dentistry and endodontics, and he is actively pursuing additional continuing education opportunities in these areas.

    He cares greatly for the well-being of each and every patient, and stresses the importance of ensuring his patients are well informed and understand the procedures required before the work even begins. He strives to provide a comfortable experience to help alleviate any patient anxiety and will calmly and patiently work with patients who commonly struggle with this.

    Having been raised just outside the city in West St. Paul, he is glad to continue to call it home and serve the surrounding community of Winnipeg. When he is not practicing dentistry, Dr. Dacombe loves to spend valuable family time with his wife Amanda and their kids: Adeline, Trenton, and Ethan. He also enjoys completing various woodworking projects for his home, as well as maintaining his acreage in the summer and backyard skating rink in the winter.

    Born and raised in Transcona Dr. Katie Cook is thrilled to be serving the community she calls home. Dr. Cook graduated high school from Collège Pierre-Elliott-Trudeau, after which she continued her French education in undergraduate sciences studies at Université de Saint Boniface before attending the University of Manitoba to obtain her degree in Doctor of Dental Medicine. She graduated from Dr. Gerald Niznick College of Dentistry and has been practicing at Odyssey Dental Care since 2019. On holidays, Dr. Katie loves to explore the world with her colleague and fellow adventurer Dr. Mikaela. In her spare time at home, she enjoys playing on both volleyball and soccer teams as well as walking her dog, Bob around Transcona.

    Dr. Tony Krawat is a highly experienced general dentist with more than 25 years of providing trusted dental care to patients in the Winnipeg community. He earned his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the University of Manitoba’s Faculty of Dentistry in 1994 and further expanded his training through the Faculty of Medicine’s General Internship Program at Winnipeg’s Health Sciences Centre. During this time, he developed a strong and lasting interest in sedation dentistry.

    Dr. Krawat offers a full range of dental services and is particularly passionate about restorative, surgical, and preventive care, helping patients maintain healthy, confident smiles in a comfortable and supportive environment.

    In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Krawat is actively involved in the dental profession. He served as President of the Winnipeg Dental Society in 2006 and currently chairs both the Registration & Licensing Committee and the Pharmaceutical and Behaviour Management Committees for the Manitoba Dental Association.

    Dr. Tara Nykoluk graduated from Dr. Gerald Niznick College of Dentistry in Winnipeg, Manitoba in 2021. Following this, she completed a 1 year General Practice Residency at Health Sciences Centre in Adult Dentistry & Oral Surgery. During this year Dr. Tara had the privilege of treating inpatients of HSC as well as persons with disabilities. Dr. Tara was also fortunate to study and treat patients under the guidance of University of Manitoba Oral Surgery residents and supervising oral surgeons gaining experience with wisdom tooth extractions, surgical extractions and other oral surgery procedures.

    Dr. Tara currently works part-time at Odyssey Dental Care and part-time flying into Northern Manitoba communities to provide dental care to those who lack access to dental care due to isolated homes. Dr. Tara is passionate about patient care and providing kind, caring and knowledgeable service.

    Born and raised in Winnipeg, MB Dr. Tara is a local sports fan and likes to attend Winnipeg Jets, Winnipeg Blue Bomber and Winnipeg Goldeyes games. Dr. Tara also has a passion for travel, being fit and playing various sports. After work, you can find Dr. Tara out walking her dog or on a long bike ride.
